$1.5 Million Settlement for Somerset County Restaurant Slip-and-Fall

Proudly serving all of New Jersey

Slip and Fall Down a Staircase

A 77-year-old Somerset County resident accepted a $1.5 million settlement on January 27, 2014, for injuries he suffered in February 2000 following a slip-and-fall incident down a staircase at a restaurant in New Jersey. As a result of the fall, the plaintiff suffered a serious neck injury that required a multi-level fusion. Unfortunately, following the neck surgery the plaintiff developed deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which led to additional procedures and an extensive hospital stay. Liability was contested by the defendant; the settlement was reached through two days of mediation with a retired superior court judge two months before the case was scheduled to go to trial.

The firm’s principals, Gabriel R. Lependorf and David E. Silverstein, have each been representing injured victims in the State of New Jersey for over thirty years.
