Perhaps the most basic “duty of care” for a New Jersey driver is to avoid crashing into buildings. However, a shocking number of motorists are failing in this duty, and average people are paying the price. The number of vehicles that have crashed into buildings within the past month is shocking, and it shows that no place is truly safe from negligent drivers. Even if you believe that you are protected by thick walls, a dump truck could smash through at any second – causing serious injuries. If you have experienced injuries due to a negligent driver crashing into a building, consider a consultation with a New Jersey injury attorney.

Injuries Reported After BMW Crashes into Montclair Home

In January 2025, the authorities reported that a vehicle had crashed into a home in Montclair. The collision injured the occupant, and no one else was hurt. The fire department provided little additional information, although the images of the crash tell a story of their own. The silver BMW ended up lodged in the corner of the residence, and it seemed to have damaged the roof as well. This suggests the BMW was actually airborne at the moment of impact.

Six Injured After Dump Truck Crashes into Target

Also in January, numerous sources reported that a dump truck had crashed into a Target in North Bergen. This incident caused six injuries, and police say the dump truck caused catastrophic damage to the store. After the dump truck was removed, a large hole was left in the wall. Police say that two people suffered serious injuries, including a woman who was in the store’s bathroom when the dump truck crashed. First responders say that this woman suffered the worst injuries out of all the victims.

According to police, the dump truck driver veered across several lanes before colliding with a semi-truck near the store. This collision threw the dump truck into the Target and left the semi-truck on the road with heavy damage. In the immediate aftermath of the crash, police say that they did not know what caused the dump truck driver to lose control. A later report stated that the dump truck was being inspected for defective brakes.

Woman Crashes into New Jersey Hospital Before Driving Down Hallway

Another shocking January incident occurred when a Bridgeton woman crashed into a hospital and started driving down the hallway. The collision occurred in the early hours of 2025, on New Year’s Day. People were forced to jump out of the way as the vehicle sped 60 feet down the hallway, and at least one person was injured. After the vehicle finally came to a halt, police were able to arrest the driver – charging her with assault by motor vehicle, criminal mischief, and other offenses.

Man Injured After Pickup Truck Crashes Into His Home on Christmas Eve

A similar incident occurred on Christmas Eve in 2024 when a man in a pickup truck crashed into a Cumberland County home. The crash occurred while an occupant was sleeping inside, and this individual was injured by the impact. First responders arrived and transported the injured man to the trauma unit, and police say he was unfortunate enough to be sleeping next to the wall the truck struck.

A family member told the media that this man had suffered multiple facial and skull fractures. He also suffered an open head injury to the back of the head. Finally, the victim reportedly broke two vertebrae in his neck and fractured numerous ribs. This is a clear example of how dangerous a crash into a home can be.

Drunk Driver Crashes into Hackensack McDonald’s, Injuring Employee

Another New Year’s fiasco occurred when a drunk driver smashed his pickup truck into a McDonald’s location in Hackensack. The driver left a gaping hole in the brick wall of the restaurant, and at least one employee was injured by flying debris. Images of the interior show the kitchen completely destroyed, and it is a wonder that only one worker was hurt.
