A recent string of semi-truck crashes in New Jersey illustrates just how dangerous the transportation industry has become. These crashes have ended lives, destroyed property, and caused catastrophic injuries. If you have experienced something like this, you already know just how life-altering a semi-truck accident in New Jersey can be. With help from an injury lawyer, you may be able to hold negligent truckers accountable for the harm they have caused. You might want to explore the possibility of a truck accident lawsuit with an experienced attorney in the Garden State.
Brake Failure Leads to Fatal Box Truck Crash
In June of 2025, MSN reported that a New Jersey man had lost his life in a fatal box truck accident. The accident occurred when a box truck’s brakes failed while going down a steep hill, causing it to veer off the road and impact a cluster of trees on the left side. The man who lost his life was a passenger in the vehicle, ostensibly working alongside the driver. The box truck was carrying furniture, and the workers were probably employed at some kind of moving company.
The driver was also injured in the crash, although they suffered “non-life-threatening” injuries. There is no word on how the brakes failed, and who might have been to blame for this defect. The owner of the box truck and the underlying company were probably subject to strict guidelines and regulations regarding regular maintenance. Alternatively, the box truck manufacturer may have been to blame. The only silver lining is that this single-vehicle crash did not involve any other vehicles.
New Jersey Man Killed by Semi-Truck After Experiencing Engine Issues
Also in June, another New Jersey man lost his life, and this incident also involved some kind of mechanical problem. Authorities say that the man exited his vehicle and began pushing his Chevrolet SUV on the side of a highway. ABC 6 suggests that the vehicle actually ran out of gas. As the man pushed the vehicle along, a woman sat in the driver’s seat and steered.
At this point, a semi-truck approached and struck the disabled SUV. The impact killed the man pushing the vehicle, and the semi-truck subsequently struck a second tractor-trailer parked on the shoulder. Reports indicate that this tractor-trailer was also experiencing engine issues, and it was disabled.
While the woman in the driver’s seat survived the impact, she was hospitalized with unspecified injuries. Due to the fact that the collision left debris scattered across all highway lanes, it is safe to say that her injuries were probably quite serious.
The authorities are continuing to investigate this incident. While ABC 6 did not report any criminal charges, this is certainly a possibility in the future. One has to wonder whether the semi-truck driver could have slowed down to avoid striking the disabled SUV. Perhaps the trucker was speeding or distracted. On the other hand, the couple with the disabled SUV may have made a mistake when they decided to push their vehicle down the right lane of the fast-moving highway. Ultimately, it is difficult to determine who might have been at fault without more information.
Trucker Dies After New Jersey Turnpike Crash
It is easy to forget that truckers also face serious hazards behind the wheel. Some of these professional drivers are very responsible, and they face hazards from negligent motorists and many other threats. In June of 2025, a trucker died after a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in Gloucester County. Authorities say that he lost control of his Freightliner before veering into a barrier. The truck then barreled into a cluster of trees before coming to a halt.
These multiple impacts claimed the trucker’s life, and the crash remains under investigation. It is still not clear what caused the trucker to lose control, and there are many possibilities. It could have been a “near-miss” with a reckless driver, some kind of mechanical failure, or something else beyond the trucker’s control.
