Numerous Children Struck in New Jersey Car AccidentsChildren have been injured or killed in a number of high-profile, recent New Jersey car accidents. These accidents have involved school buses, transit vehicles, and average negligent drivers. Many of these incidents have also occurred in school zones. It goes without saying that whenever young individuals are killed or maimed in car accidents, it reminds us of how life-altering car accidents can be. These victims are often robbed of long, productive lives simply because we have failed to provide safe roads. If a negligent driver injured or killed your child, consider speaking with an experienced car accident lawyer in New Jersey.

7-Year-Old Fatally Wounded After Being Struck by School Bus

On May 11th, 2026, ABC Eyewitness News reported that a seven-year-old child had lost their life after a collision involving a school bus. The incident occurred shortly after school dismissal, and its exact circumstances remain unclear. Video footage showed a woman frantically banging on a nearby resident’s door as onlookers attempted to render aid to the child. Police subsequently announced that they were launching a full investigation into the incident. There was no word on who might have been at fault, and no arrests have occurred as of this writing. First responders managed to transport the victim to a local hospital, but he perished not long afterward.

15-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by SUV

Also in May, a 15-year-old child was hospitalized after he was struck by a passing vehicle. The teen was walking in Mount Laurel. Again, the circumstances of this incident remain unclear. Police did not reveal whether the boy was walking on a sidewalk or whether he had the right of way.

Authorities also failed to mention whether there had been any arrests in connection with the incident, although the 29-year-old driver remained at the scene. Reports indicate that the driver’s SUV suffered heavy frontal damage, suggesting that the impact may have been quite severe. Although he survived the initial impact, he ultimately perished not long afterward while receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital.

Teen Killed by NJ Transit Train

May also saw the death of another teenager in Red Bank. Reports indicate that the 16-year-old was fatally struck by a passing NJ Transit train, and the local authorities say that the boy was trespassing at the time of the incident. Beyond this fact, the circumstances of the fatality remain clear. Police would not specify whether this was an intentional suicide or merely an accident.

E-Bike Riding Teen Dies After Impact With Car

In late April, New Jersey 101.5 reported that a child had lost their life after an accident in Princeton. The teenager was riding an e-bike when he collided with another vehicle, and although first responders managed to transport him to a local hospital, he then died of his wounds.

The e-bike rider was reportedly in the middle of an intersection when he was struck, although there was no word on who had the right of way. This incident came just weeks before a ban on all e-bikes and motorized scooters at Princeton University, effective in June of 2026. When accidents occur that involve cars, pedestrians and bike riders are injured, cases can be more complex and require special attention.

Crossing Guard Dies While Helping Two Kids Cross Safely

Another related incident occurred in Woodland Park when a crossing guard was fatally struck. A report published in May suggests that the crossing guard was trying to safely guide two children across the street when the accident occurred. While the two children were also hit by the vehicle, they survived.

The fact that these three individuals were in the middle of a crosswalk clearly indicates that they had the right of way. Despite this fact, there was no word on whether the driver involved in this collision would face any charges or traffic tickets. Local law enforcement is continuing to investigate the incident, and charges may still be possible. The children were hospitalized, but eventually their conditions became stable.
