Gloucester Township, NJ (September 12th, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a serious multi-vehicle accident that happened on Friday night in Camden County. Responding officers were quickly faced with another collision after a suspected drunk driver passed the scene of the accident and struck multiple vehicles, including a home.

Officers from Gloucester Township responded to an initial accident involving a motorcycle in the area of Sicklerville Rd and Route 42 on ramp heading north. The accident happened sometime around 10:45 p.m. Upon arrival, the responding officers located the motorcyclist laying on the roadway. The motorcyclist was rushed to Cooper University Hospital in Camden with a severe head injury. He is reportedly in critical but stable condition.

As authorities investigated the motorcycle accident scene, another vehicle with a flat tire passed them and before police could stop it, the vehicle rear-ended another vehicle on Sicklerville Rd. The alleged intoxicated driver of that vehicle then proceeded to turn into a side street where it collided with several parked vehicles and ran into the front corner of a house.

According to reports, the alleged drunk driver did not sustain any injuries. He was then arrested for driving while under the influence. Authorities state that there were no other injuries caused by the collisions.

The identities of the drivers involved in the multi-vehicle accident have not been released by the police. Gloucester Township Police are requesting that anyone with information about the accidents or witnessed the collisions transpire contact the department.

Multi-vehicle accidents happen frequently across the State of New Jersey. Unfortunately, these accidents are far more complicated than single or even two-vehicle auto accidents. The more vehicles involved in the accident, there is a higher chance that a person will sustain serious injuries or die as a result of the accident.

Regrettably, the consequences of a multi-vehicle accident can be far-reaching. Depending on the severity of the accident, the multi-vehicle accident can lead to a lifetime of despair and agony for the injured parties and their loved ones. Making matters worse, determining liability in a multi-vehicle accident can be extremely complicated.

In New Jersey, when a person is injured as a result of another’s reckless driving, a personal injury lawsuit may be pursued for monetary damages. To recover compensation, injured parties must first go through their own insurance coverage for monetary damages. When the damages and injuries are excessive, however, monetary damages can be sought from the responsible party.

From a liability standpoint, traffic accidents involving more than one vehicle raise serious issues. Determining the cause of the accident and identifying all potentially liable parties can be challenging. For the most part, every party involved will blame one another, including the careless driver who broke the law. To ensure all potentially liable parties are held responsible for their actions, a thorough investigation must be completed.

When a traffic accident involves multiple vehicles, the collection of evidence can help determine who was at fault for the accident. While most auto accidents will be the result of driver error, such as drunk driving, other accidents can be the result of manufacturing errors, such as defective airbags or faulty tires. When a third party is found accountable for playing a role in the cause of the accident, the outside party can be held accountable for its share of fault.

Collecting evidence at the scene of the accident can be critical in proving fault. Evidence collected from the scene may include taking pictures or video for future analysis. It can also include collecting police reports and obtaining the contact information of witnesses who can provide details of how the accident happened.

Multi-vehicle accidents are extremely complex and they require the support of a knowledgeable attorney to prove fault. Sadly, these cases tend to have catastrophic consequences that can result in a loss of quality of life. By proving fault, injured victims may be able to obtain financial compensation for their losses, including compensation for medical costs, loss of employment, pain and suffering, and more.
