White Township (July 18th, 2021) – According to authorities, two people were rushed to a local trauma center after a single-vehicle rollover accident in White Township on Sunday evening.
The single-vehicle accident happened in the 400 block of Hazen Oxford Road around 6:00 p.m. according to the New Jersey State Police.
Based on reports, a Kia Sedona minivan was headed west on Hazan Oxford when it slid off the road near a curve. The vehicle broke through a fence and off a wall that propelled the vehicle to the air ultimately causing it to roll back onto its wheels on a nearby property.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified by authorities as 79-year-old Irwin Symons, resident of White Township. The passenger of the vehicle has been identified as 90-year-old Helga Symons, also a resident of White Township.
According to Sergeant Alejandro Goez of the New Jersey State Police, rescue personnel had to free Irwin Symons who had become trapped in the minivan. Helga Symons was rushed to St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill by the Oxford Rescue Squad. The injuries sustained by her were not life-threatening, according to Sgt. Goez.
The Kia driver, Irwin Symons, was transported by St. Luke’s Ambulance about two and a half miles to a landing zone. He was flown to St. Luke’s University Hospital’s trauma center and is now in stable condition.
The case is currently under investigation by police from the Washington barracks. No other information is available at this time.
A vast majority of auto accidents involve more than one vehicle, with at least one driver to blame for having caused the accident. When a multi-vehicle accident occurs, the incident can be subject to a tort claim, especially if one of the parties suffered bodily harm because of the other party’s negligence. There are some cases, however, where only one vehicle is involved in the accident.
When single-vehicle accidents occur, many people assume that compensation cannot be obtained for the property damages, medical costs, and other expenses resulting from the accident. Even when the accident involves a single driver, however, pursuing legal recourse may still be an option available to most injured people.
Single-vehicle car accidents can happen for a variety of reasons, but one of the most common reasons behind these accidents is poor road conditions. With poor road conditions, drivers can have a very hard time maintaining control of their vehicles. These hazardous conditions can be caused by potholes, construction debris, and strong weather.
A vast majority of roads throughout the state are maintained by government agencies. When an accident takes place, the government entity can be held responsible for the damages caused by the unmaintained road. Filing a case against a public agency, however, is a challenging matter that often requires legal experience.
Another major cause of single-vehicle accidents is defective vehicle parts. Some vehicle accidents can be caused by flawed parts that should not have never been placed into circulation. This form of negligence by auto or auto part manufacturers and distributors can lead to unexpected tire blowouts, sudden airbag deployments, or other types of accidents.
Single-vehicle accidents can have serious and long-lasting consequences. While some single-vehicle accidents are caused by driver error, other single-vehicle accidents can be caused by third-party negligence.
