Lependorf & Silverstein, P.C. in the New Jersey Community
Proudly serving all of New Jersey
2019 Scholarship Winner Update
“In life, our only real obstacle is ourselves – and that is exactly the obstacle that I have been working to overcome these past few years.”
– Melisa F., 2019 Scholarship Winner
Lependorf & Silverstein, P.C., was proud to award our 2019 scholarship to Melisa F. from Juliustown, New Jersey. We started our Riding Into The Future Scholarship in 2016 to give back to our community, and support promising college-bound students from our home state. We were more than pleased to meet Melisa and her family, and know she is on her way to great things!
2018 Scholarship Winner Update
We told you we’d be keeping in touch with our scholarship winners! Te’Zhuen W. recently sent us an email after his first semester at Berklee College of Music in Boston, saying, “I never knew a community like this existed. I LOVE IT!” He also shared with us the exciting projects he’s working on. We have to say, this young man is unstoppable. He’s not only songwriting, performing, playing trombone, song engineering, and producing music, he’s become a certified DJ and may host his own radio show in the future! He participated in four different ensembles, including one that rarely accepts freshman, and got his first paying gig. He ran for President of his dorm’s Hall Council and won, and serves as a liaison between students and the housing department. “It’s my responsibility to create and inspire community inside and outside of the dorms… I’ve been able to meet so many people, and the experience I’m gaining is priceless. In addition to running for Hall Council, I attended a few leadership workshops to gain some perspective. I was awarded an ‘Emerging Leader’ certificate for my participation in Berklee’s Student Leadership Program.”
As Te’Zhuen says, “I will only be as capable as the effort I exert.” He’s excited to go back to Berklee and has a lot of goals for his next semester: get straight As, get a job working for the college, become a Resident Advisor, practice efficiently more often, perform more often, and collaborate on 1,500 projects in whatever capacity he can (“I don’t think that goal is achievable for semester, but I’d like to try to make it happen!”). While he’s doing all this, he wants to build strong, durable, and meaningful relationships.
“The past four months have been absolutely incredible. I’ve grown so much as a musician and as a human being. I hunger for knowledge, so I appreciate everything I’m learning. The most surprising part about my education is what I am learning about myself. Berklee has afforded me the chance to gain what society desperately needs: perspective. I’ve never felt so at peace with my abilities and who I am.”
We at Lependorf & Silverstein, P.C., were delighted to hear from Te’Zhuen, and can’t wait for his next dispatch from Boston!
2018 Scholarship Winners
“I am next. These three words are my bold proclamation to be the next African American leader in the field of science and technology.”
– Dawson W., 2018 Scholarship Co-Winner
“In learning about music, I learn more about myself; and by losing myself in the music I find the foundation of who I really am as an individual.”
– Te’Zhuen W., 2018 Scholarship Co-Winner
Lependorf & Silverstein, P.C., was proud to award its 2018 scholarship prize of $500 each to two deserving young scholars: Dawson, who intends to use his degree in science and technology to solve problems in the Garden State, nationally, and then globally; and Te’Zhuen, who wants to perform, produce, compose, engineer, and collaborate in every aspect of music. We expect great things from these young men and will be keeping in touch with them to see how they progress in college.
2017 Scholarship Winners
“My family’s hardships taught me at a young age how to be positive about the things I can control, and appreciative of the things I do have.”
– Victoria S., 2017 Scholarship Winner
Lependorf & Silverstein, P.C. would like to congratulate our 2017 scholarship winner, Victoria S. We wanted to help young people who will shape the future of New Jersey and the rest of our great country. Our goal was to help reduce the financial burdens of pursuing a higher education, and through our scholarship our firm has found a new way we can serve the community.
